About Georgina.

Georgina Lara Booth FRSA is an award-winning journalist, writer, filmmaker, actress. voiceover artist, presenter, broadcaster, women’s empowerment activist and humanitarian.

In regard to her journalism and writing, Georgina is the first ever Chief Editor Social Good for the international publication Mashable (Benelux) where she is also an Entertainment, Tech and Science Editor and Journalist. Georgina has also been an editor and managing editor for various Dutch, European and international law publications. Georgina has written about many areas ranging from Robot Law, Artificial Intelligence and Public International Law to food reviews, films, TV shows, books (fiction), sustainability, space, travel, gaming, hospitality, innovation, entrepreneurship, science, politics, gender (in)equality, women’s empowerment and more.

The main interest areas that Georgina covers as a journalist are Entertainment and Pop Culture (particularly film and TV, celebrities, actors, directors and writers), Tech (particularly AI, Robots and Tech Entrepreneurship), Science (particularly space, scientific innovations, oceans and scientific entrepreneurship) and Social Good (particularly gender equality and women’s empowerment, but also sustainability, humanitarian work, activism, Public International Law, the UN system and social entrepreneurship).

Georgina is also extremely passionate about interviewing people. She has crafted a specialty in interviewing Hollywood celebrities and public figures (from politicians and global humanitarians to entrepreneurs and scientists) about projects they are working on, but also to figure out what makes them tick as human beings - based on their backgrounds, personal lives, interests and what motivates them - that has shaped them into who they have become as professionals. Georgina has interviewed many world-renowned individuals and celebrities, such as Angelina Jolie, Martin Luther King III, Richard Branson, Prince Constantijn of The Netherlands, Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov of Ukraine, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Farrell, James McAvoy, Spike Lee, Khloé Kardashian, Robin Wright, Behati Prinsloo Levine, Ruth Wilson, Domhnall Gleeson, Hiram Garcia, Rick Astley, Paul Dano and many others.

Some memorable moments as a journalist include the time when Georgina interviewed actor Andy Serkis at Warner Bros. for the DC Comics movie The Batman during which she impressed him with her voice impression of The Lord of the Rings character “Gollum” that Andy himself portrayed in The Lord of The Rings movies. An animation studio in Los Angeles that enjoyed seeing her interview subsequently made an animation video of her Gollum voice impression during her interview with Andy. Georgina also interviewed Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, on the day of the liberation of the strategic port city of Kherson from Russia, which was a key event of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

In March 2023, Georgina was honored by Forbes when she was selected as one of the 30 honorees under the age of 30 in their world-renowned and prestigious Forbes 30 under 30 list in the media category for her journalism and editorial work. Georgina was referred to as “the new frontier of storytelling” and was chosen by the American editors of Forbes and four independent European-based judges for the 2023 media category: John Ridding (CEO of Financial Times), Trevor Johnson (Head of Marketing Global Business at TikTok), Asmita Dubey (Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at L'Oréal) and Kübra Gümüsay (Writer, Activist and Journalist). Other Forbes 30 under 30 honorees of 2023 included Hailey Rhode Bieber, Joseph Quinn, Sadie Sink, Raye, George Russell and Maddie Ziegler.

Georgina is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship and the only Fulbright Scholar of her year to receive the both Ivy Circle Scholarship and the Velmans Fellowship in International Communications for postgraduate studies and research in the United States in the areas of Journalism, Public Relations, Social Media, Publishing and Historical Research. As an Americanist and jurist (with a postgraduate academic background and research in both American Studies and Law), Georgina also writes and speaks on topics related to the United States (the American film industry, American society, American history and American pop culture) and Law (her interests mainly concern Public International Law, Robot Law, Space Law, the Law of the Sea and Intellectual Property Law).

In addition to journalism, Georgina has been both a professional actress and a humanitarian since early childhood. One of her earliest memories on TV was performing the splits while playing the violin for a national children’s TV show in The Netherlands. Georgina has acted professionally for film, TV, theatre, commercials and voiceover. Her acting work includes a European TV Show, a horror film that was officially approved by Stephen King, voiceover for the ITV series Van der Valk, a theatre play with Dutch soap actors about children’s rights and a theatre play at the renowned Soho Theatre in London’s West End. Georgina has studied acting at drama schools, such as The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute (NYC), The Juilliard School (NYC), Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (London), Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London) and National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. She is professionally registered as an actress with Spotlight (UK).

In regard to her humanitarian and charity work, Georgina has been recognized on an international, national and regional level since her early childhood. At the age of 10, Georgina organized a highly successful music festival together with her then 12-year old sister that garnered a lot of national media attention in The Netherlands due to their young age. The festival attracted thousands of visitors and with the funds raised, multiple playgrounds and sports fields were build for schools in Indonesia that were greatly impacted by the 2004 tsunami disaster. Due to the huge success of her music festival, which she also presented, Georgina was appointed as the first (and youngest) Humanitarian Youth Ambassador for one of the largest municipalities in The Netherlands. Georgina subsequently also became a Peace Ambassador and established an ‘Embassy of Peace’ - for which she organized many peace-related events such as a peace debate with the Dutch Minister of Defense, a peace lecture, peace art workshops for children and a Masquerade Peace Ball at the National Museum of Ethnology. In 2005, Georgina won a national slogan competition for Unicef’s Kids United and her Dutch slogan “Van Pool tot Pool, Elk Kind Naar School!” (From Pole to Pole, Each Child Should Go To School!) was thus printed on all Unicef Kids United materials from banners and flags to stickers, flyers, posters and was featured on the Kids United TV Show. As a teen, Georgina was the youngest finalist for ‘Holland’s Next Top Lobbyist’ - a national competition in The Netherlands that was organized by Amnesty International, Oxfam Novib and IKV Pax Christi. At the age of 16, Georgina established her own youth foundation, 4U&U Foundation, to encourage volunteer work to children and young adults. For her humanitarian and charity work, Georgina has partnered with many governmental and non-governmental organizations over the years, such as Terre des Hommes, Unicef, War Child, European Commission, Netherlands Youth Institute, ICCO and IKV Pax Christi. Georgina has received multiple awards for her humanitarian and charity work over the years, such as the Dik Trom Youth Award, Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (for which she carries the post-nominal title FRSA), International Award for Young People, an Honorary Medal from the Netherlands Public Broadcasting Station and she was the first person from The Netherlands to receive the prestigious International Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Award.

Georgina is also passionate about activism in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Since 2021, Georgina has been a UN Women delegate at the Commission on the Status of Women. Georgina has also written about gender (in)equality and women’s empowerment - such as about women in STEM.

Furthermore, Georgina is a filmmaker and has directed, produced, written, filmed and been featured in films she has made ranging from going on surveillance with an old school New York City private detective to edible insect activists and the work and life of a sound engineer called ‘Midnight Bob’ who is one of the last old school heavy duty techs from the height of the New York City music studio days. In addition to filmmaking,

Georgina enjoys photography and her work has been published by Getty Images and Mashable. She also enjoys writing for film and TV and received a screenwriting award. Georgina also enjoys radio work (hosting, producing, broadcasting and acting/performing). She is a licensed radio programmer for the New York radio station WKCR 89.9 FM.

In her spare time, Georgina is a huge ‘film buff’ and enjoys discovering captivating films in any language from any era. She also enjoys watching ballet performances, brainstorming on screenplays and stories, creating any type of artwork (from photography and filmmaking to painting and sculpture), visiting flower shops, playing claw machines at arcades, going to the seaside to find rock pools with vibrant wildlife and is a huge animal lover - she particularly enjoys walking with alpacas.
